One powerful Bible verse about gratitude is: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This verse reminds us to be grateful in all situations, trusting that God’s plan is perfect, even when we don’t fully understand it. Gratitude strengthens our faith and keeps us connected to God’s will.

Blessings of Today and Yesteryear…
Gratitude is the foundation of a heart aligned with God. It transforms our daily lives, opening our eyes to the abundant blessings surrounding us. In our modern world, we often take for granted the conveniences and comforts that our ancestors could only dream of. Yet, every warm shower, every home-cooked meal, and even the simplest act of turning on a light is a blessing that deserves recognition.
Today, I want to reflect on the blessings of today—the comforts and provisions we experience daily—and the blessings of 200 years ago, those that shaped the foundation of our world and paved the way for where we are now.
The Blessings of Today
Living in a home with eight people—three ladies downstairs and five gentlemen upstairs—could easily be overwhelming. But instead, it is a testament to God’s provision. The simple fact that we have access to warm showers, even with so many people, is something to be deeply grateful for. A hot shower after a long day is not just a luxury—it’s a blessing that many in the world still lack.
1. The Gift of Light and Space
Our basement apartment is unlike the dark, confined spaces people often associate with underground living. Instead, it is filled with natural sunlight, streaming through the windows, nourishing the beautiful plants that grace our home. This is a reminder that even in what seems like the lowest places, God provides light.
2. A Beautiful Kitchen and Queen-Like Bathroom
The kitchen is the heart of any home, and ours is no exception. The ability to cook warm, nourishing meals is a blessing in itself. Many around the world struggle to find their next meal, yet we have abundant food, a working stove, and a refrigerator to keep our food fresh.
Our ceramic bathroom is another treasure. With its clean, modern design, it feels like a sanctuary. There is a certain dignity and comfort in having a bathroom that makes you feel like royalty—a stark contrast to outhouses or communal facilities of the past.
3. Indoor Plumbing and Laundry
It may seem like a small thing, but indoor plumbing is one of the greatest blessings of modern life. Gone are the days of fetching water from wells or using chamber pots. We can turn on a tap and have instant access to clean water—something that people throughout history could not even imagine.
Similarly, our washer and dryers simplify what was once an exhausting, all-day task. Today, we can wash and dry clothes with ease, a task that once required hours of labor by hand. These everyday blessings are things we rarely think about, but they are manifestations of God’s favor.
The Blessings of 200 Yesteryear
While we are incredibly blessed in the present, we must also honor the gifts of the past. Many of the conveniences we enjoy today exist because of the faith, perseverance, and ingenuity of those who came before us.
1. The Strength of Simplicity
Life 200 years ago was undeniably harder. People did not have electricity, running water, or modern medicine. Yet, they lived with a deep connection to nature, family, and faith.
• Families worked together on farms, growing their own food.
• They relied on God’s natural provisions, from harvesting crops to using herbs for medicine.
• Time was slower, and people valued face-to-face connections rather than being consumed by technology.
2. The Faith That Sustained Generations
Without modern distractions, people 200 years ago had a stronger reliance on God. Churches were the center of community life, and faith was woven into everyday existence. Instead of scrolling on phones or binge-watching television, evenings were spent:
• Reading the Bible by candlelight.
• Singing hymns as a family.
• Praying together and thanking God for daily sustenance.
Even though life was physically harder, spiritually, it was rich. The lack of material distractions allowed for a deep and unwavering faith that we should strive to reclaim today.
3. The Legacy of Hard Work and Innovation
If our ancestors had not worked tirelessly, we would not have the blessings we enjoy today. They built homes, tilled fields, and created inventions that made life easier for future generations.
• Agriculture: They developed farming techniques that still feed us today.
• Medicine: They experimented with herbal remedies that laid the foundation for modern medicine.
• Inventions: The Industrial Revolution, which began more than 200 years ago, gave birth to many modern conveniences.
We honor their hard work when we appreciate what we have instead of complaining about what we lack.
Living in Gratitude
The blessings of today and 200 yesteryear are intertwined. Without the struggles and perseverance of the past, we would not have the comforts of today. It is easy to focus on what is missing in our lives, but when we truly open our eyes to God’s provisions, we see abundance everywhere.
Instead of longing for more, let us give thanks for what is already ours. The food on our table, the warmth of our homes, the love of family, and the faith that sustains us—all of it is a gift from God.
Gratitude Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the blessings of today and the gifts of the past. Help us to recognize Your hand in every aspect of our lives. May we never take for granted the warmth of a home, the provision of food, or the simple joys that make life beautiful.
We honor those who came before us, the sacrifices they made, and the faith they carried. May we, too, walk in faith, appreciating all that You have given us.
For those who struggle to see their blessings, Lord, open their eyes. Let them recognize the divine light within them and turn toward You in their own free will, in divine timing.
Sealed and confirmed true in God’s Divine Timing, God’s Grace, God’s Love, by the Mighty Name of Jesus and the Most Sacred Blood of the Lamb.
The Most Holy Amen.
Holy Spirit Poem: The Blessings We Hold
A cup of water, warm and pure,
A blessing that will long endure.
A roof above, a bed so soft,
A gift from God, both high and loft.
The past was hard, yet faith was bright,
They prayed by stars and candlelight.
They worked the land with hands so worn,
But in their faith, new hope was born.
Now here we stand, in comfort’s glow,
Yet gratitude, we still must show.
For all we have is by His hand,
A promise made, a life so planned.
Let hearts be full, let eyes be clear,
The Lord provides, so have no fear.
Through past and present, grace remains,
Forever singing Heaven’s refrains.

The Saviors Prayer and Accepting Jesus as Your King and Savior
"Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead.
I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life.
I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.
In Your Mighty Name Jesus,
Amen, Amen, Amen."
Psalm 118:24
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Your Word says in Isaiah 53:5,
“By His stripes, we are healed.”
The 10 Commandments Reminder
Here are the Ten Commandments, as listed in the Bible (specifically from the Book of Exodus 20:1-17, and also found in Deuteronomy 5:4-21):
You shall have no other gods before Me.
You shall not make for yourselves a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above or on the earth below. Remember money and stuff is only stuff, not God. When you leave this earthly life it gets left behind.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honor your father and mother. Don't take on their divine lessons God presents them with. They may have been a pain in the butt sometimes but remember it works both ways! They are part of our "Faith Walk" and we are part of theirs. We can't save them, only God can, however healthy boundaries are self loving. Sometimes we have to love them from a distance and accept their apology they never gave us. If you need a prayer to help you forgive and follow this commandment. I can help you with that so please reach out. faithwalkministries777@outlook.com
You shall not murder. This includes lies and slander where you destroy someone's reputation.
You shall not commit adultery. This includes looking at another that you aren't married to in any inappropriate way.
You shall not steal. If you steal anything, no matter how small, you are giving out the vibration to Abba Father of lack and that's what you will get more of!
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, wife, or possessions.
Be blessed my friend.
